REFRESHING
“Now That Is Refreshing!” by Sherry Fields
Refreshed, renewed, rejuvenated, relaxed, and rested, five words that I am sure everyone wants to feel. With spring coming on and the trees starting to bud and the bulbs I planted last year peeking their heads out for the first time, these words have new meaning. Winter is over and it is time to get refreshed and start anew. Each one of us has a different reason for needing refreshment and we all do different things to feel refreshed.
Make a list of those things that help you. For myself I enjoy looking at nature and what God has provided for us, reading inspirational books, spending time with uplifting people, and working on creative projects. When doing these things to feel refreshed I have to ask myself, do I believe that true and total refreshment and having a refreshed spirit comes from God? Absolutely! Seeing the coming of spring and watching all the plants coming to life is from God. Reading an inspirational book that makes me feel good about myself and teaches me from others trials and tribulations is from God. Spending time with uplifting people who support my beliefs, provide valuable input, and worship with me is from God. Lastly, having the gift to be creative, to make something from nothing, and giving that creation to a friend to say I am thinking of them is definitely from God.
What do you do in your life that provides you refreshment that is from God? What ideas would you suggest to others that are in need of refreshment? Share your thoughts with family and friends; create a desire in yourself and in them to become closer to God.
Acts 3:19 says “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.” When doing the things that refresh us we become closer to God. The book of Philemon was a letter written by Paul to a friend. Verse 20 says, “Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in the Lord”. Spending time in fellowship with our friends brings us refreshment.
What can we do in the week ahead to find refreshment in the Lord? It is springtime and there is no time like the present to become refreshed, renewed, rejuvenated, relaxed and rested!
